ANAÏS–NOUR BENLACHHAB
Anaïs-Nour Benlachhab is a French-Moroccan composer and classical guitarist. Her work spans instrumental, electronic and mixed music, often bringing together poetry, 2D animation, improvisation, sound ecology and theatre.
Each new piece is an opportunity to explore different ideas, techniques and musical worlds. Shaped by a variety of cultural influences, her compositions return to questions of exile, identity, intimacy and feminism — subjects that are social, but above all human.
Her work grows out of extensive research, yet she seeks to create contemporary music free from conventions and expectations. Music that can be both accessible and complex, leaving room for humour, joy, unexpected encounters and sincerity. If she had to define her style, it would be through the happy meeting of opposites.
A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and IRCAM’s Cursus programme, she has collaborated with several contemporary music ensembles, notably Ensemble intercontemporain, with whom she premiered Baile de Vida at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2026. Her work has also been presented at IRCAM and the Abbaye de Royaumont, where she has been a laureate of the Académie Voix Nouvelles since 2025. Her upcoming projects include a new commission for the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) in New York.

“La composition permet l’accès à de nombreux domaines. Il n’est nul besoin de se mettre dans une boîte ou de se placer sous une étiquette : il faut se tourner vers d’autres personnes, d’autres arts, d’autres cultures. La musique est là pour créer des liens.”
